The grocery bags land on the kitchen bench. The oven goes on. Someone opens the back door. The family room warms before anyone has properly sat down. In many St Ives homes, the kitchen and family area become the real test of air conditioning, not the formal room, spare bedroom or front sitting space.
St Ives has a strong local centre around St Ives Shopping Village and the Village Green, with larger residential streets extending toward parks, showground spaces and bushland edges. That creates homes where daily comfort is often judged in the open-plan area behind the front rooms. It is the kitchen, meals area, family room or garden-facing space where heat, movement and people gather.
The air conditioning choice needs to suit that active part of the home.
The kitchen heat nobody counts properly
A kitchen-family area can look manageable on a floor plan, but the heat load changes once the room is being used. Cooking, appliances, afternoon sun, people moving through the room and doors opening to the garden can all make the space feel warmer than expected.
