Eastwood changes quickly from one street to the next. Around the station, Rowe Street, Eastwood Shopping Centre, Eastwood Village and the dining streets, the suburb feels busy, compact and active. A short distance away, the mood shifts to older residential streets with Federation homes, Californian bungalows, villas, townhouses, and family houses that have been altered over time.
That mix creates a different air-conditioning problem from the quieter surrounding suburbs. Some Eastwood customers need cooling because the room faces the railway, shops, buses, or evening activity, and the windows are not always left open. Others need a careful retrofit in an older home, where the wall, pipe route, and outdoor unit position need to be chosen with greater care.
